Hyperstar Cable Router

Hyperstar Cable Router

thingiverse

This is a custom cable router designed specifically for use with 8-inch Celestron telescopes that have been equipped with the Starizona Hyperstar focal reducer. Typically, cables are routed straight over the corrector plate, but this method often results in noticeable diffraction spikes. By instead running the cables over the corrector plate in a smooth circular arc, these diffraction spikes can be significantly minimized. To utilize this cable router, simply secure your cables to it using electrical tape and then mount it to the front edge of your telescope. This design was created using Alibre Design software, and I have included the source file for anyone who also has access to this program. The cable router was printed in PLA material, but it can likely be fabricated with just about any other material. On November 13th, a version specifically designed for the 11-inch Celestron Hyperstar system was added. However, at that time, I had not yet performed a test fit of the part, so it was flagged as a work in progress. Later, on November 15th, I successfully tested the cable router on an 11-inch Celestron at Starizona and found it to be a good fit. As such, I have removed the "Work-In-Progress" designation for now. On December 3rd, a version designed for the 9.25-inch Celestron Hyperstar system was added. Then, on May 12th, a version specifically designed for the 14-inch Celestron Hyperstar system was also included. Finally, on June 4th, the 14-inch cable router design was updated to reduce the gap with the Hyperstar, thanks in large part to feedback from Joeren.
