Hypersonic Jet

Hypersonic Jet

thingiverse

Since the '50s, a concept has emerged to send a spacecraft to the upper atmosphere's edge using gravity acceleration. The jet can carry 50 passengers at Mach 15 without sonic booms (like Concord at Mach 2). Powered by two engines, the SCRAM jet (supersonic combustion ramjet) is at the bottom and conventional rocket engines at the rear. After launch by rockets to a specific velocity, the scramjet activates for hyper-sonic flight. Landing mimics US space shuttles'. By 2040, when low-weight, high-strength, heat-resistant materials are needed, this vehicle may be available for high-speed transport. Initially, military and space agencies (e.g., X-43) will likely use it, followed by wealthier individuals as tech becomes cheaper and accessible. Renderings and CFD data will soon be released.
