Hyperion MK2 - Antweight Combat Robot Battlebot
grabcad
This is Hyperion MK2, the revised design of my successful antweight combat robot, Hyperion. It features a few improvisions over its predecessor, including a more sophisticated hub motor design (Credits to Luke Quin as well as Team BonX for inspiring it), a heavier duty titanium wedgelet, timing belt drive, thicker and more impact resistant wheel guards, an experimental two-part body design, a larger and heavier spinning mass (Over 421 joules when spinning with a tip speed of 322mph!), and faster drive. The prior Hyperion demonstrated its weapon's robustness, not showing any signs of wear throughout the competition (Minus bearing wear, but this is solely my fault as I purchased "Precision motion" bearings as opposed to bearings that are actually designed to bear loads), which gives me hope for the new hub motor. Nearly doubling the weapon mass should lead to some pretty crazy gyro!---As always, please do not replicate! Uploading my models should be used only as reference for those pursuing similar designs. This does not mean that what I do is the right and only way to do something; engineering is special because of all the different ways that problem can be solved.
