HyperCube Linear Rail Parts
thingiverse
I managed to score some linear rails for free, but they ended up being 20mm profile rails. Since everything available here is based on 15mm or smaller, I needed custom 3D models that would work with my printer built around a HyperCube at one point in its life cycle. The design had to account for my plexiglass sides, and the main issue was the significant loss of printing space when switching from linear rods to 20mm profile rails. I'm hoping someone on this platform can improve my design and build upon it. As a programmer, I have a fondness for OpenSCAD, so all the models here were created using it with modularity in mind. The XYJoiner was replicated from the HyperCube's XYJoiner, which took up a lot of time but allowed me to create the upper portion and adapt it to a mount that works with 20mm profile rail guides. A note about this design: if you're planning to use 10mm or 15mm guides, there's a chance the holes might not be accessible. I didn't design for all possible scenarios. The included XYIdler hasn't been tested yet; originally, I used a spacer to space out the HyperCube's XYIdler, but since I couldn't tighten the belt, I went with a different design. The current design is based on a friend's remix, so I can't upload it without permission. The rail carriage is straightforward, offering only a Prusa i3 mounting setup and a simple way to attach belts. For the XY Motor mounts, this was replicated from the HyperCube version, but I've only included the right one – simply flip your slicer settings to get the left version.
