First off: thanks go out to Scott for an amazing job! I appreciate it. However, there were a few issues with his extruder parts that really got under my skin. One of them was the fact that the insert brass nuts would pop right out when tightened too much. There was also some annoying play in the hotend fitting that caused it to turn unintentionally. It was really frustrating trying to get everything lined up just right. And to top it all off, I had to do some soldering work on the optical endswitch because a plug wouldn't fit with the original extruder mount. So take a look at these photos: I've come up with a redesign that fixes all of these problems. The hotend fits better now, and there are additional fixing screws on the retainer that won't cause the insert nuts to retract. Plus, you'll have more space for a standard optical switch without having to do any soldering. As an added bonus, you can remove the optical switch without loosening the cables! Update V3.0: I made some design changes to use the Probe on the opposite side of the extruder mount. This was necessary because my probe kept going outside the hotbed when reaching the endstop. Now you have the flexibility to use it either way - just flip the retainer 180 degrees and you're good to go! I also did some mass reduction by removing the center insert nut and replacing it with a standard M3 nut.
