Hypercube Evolution dual radial fan mount
thingiverse
The original Hypercube Evolution cooling fan shroud was blowing directly onto my heating block and failing to perform well. I decided to remix the original file and make some significant improvements. This version positions a BLTouch 18.25mm behind the nozzle on an adjustable mount, allowing for either the E3D V6 or the Volcano to be used. All heatserts have been eliminated and replaced with trapped nuts. The original fan mount was converted into a support for the bowden tube, greatly enhancing print quality. Notably, this mount accepts two radial fans, which significantly improved bridging. Print settings: I utilized PETG with 25% infill for all prints. Supports are required on the retainer and extruder mount but only from the print bed and not internally. The fan ducts were designed to be printed without support and in an orientation that facilitates printing (flat rectangle near the exhaust hole). Probe location: X0 Y18.25 Notes: This assembly is extremely compact and has a tight fit. It may not work with modified motor or Z rod mounts. If you built the dual Z motor version with four Z rods, you must home Y before X. The Z rod mounts protrude about 5mm past the side of the X and Y motors, causing the fan ducts to collide if homed in the opposite order. If you keep this limitation in mind, you do not have to change your end stops or bed dimensions. If you must home X before Y, I suggest modifying the X axis endstops to trigger sooner. The left fan requires a ~3mm cut into the forward mounting hole to prevent it from catching the motor mount. 24v fan Digikey part: Delta electronics BFB0524HH 12v fan Digikey part: Delta electronics BFB0512HH Future todos: Optimize fan shroud design (help appreciated) Create volcano compatible fan shrouds (if interest is expressed)
