I'm working on a custom Hypercube Evolution mount for my Drakon extruder in a direct drive setup. In short, I built the Hypercube Evolution, but wasn't completely satisfied with the bowden setup. I had a nice geared Drakon extruder, so I decided to repurpose it as a direct drive on my HEVO. I liked @visart3d's solution for mounting a BMG extruder because the motor is positioned over the X carriage. This saved space since my motor is small and likely reduced inertia by placing the motor close to the axis. This project is still in progress; I broke the filament guide part while assembling, but it held up well enough to print replacement parts.
