Hypercube 300 Spiral Bushing XY Joiner
thingiverse
One of the key objectives for the Hypercube 300 design is to minimize the mass of the CoreXY mechanism so it can operate at a faster pace; this is why it employs materials like carbon-fiber rods on the carriage axis. The original XY joiners in the design call for LM8LUU linear bearings, which significantly adds weight to one axis. This XY joiner redesign fully encloses the bearing so you can substitute the spiral-vase printed linear bushing from here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2537701 Increase length to 44.8 mm to create an LM8LUU-sized bushing, experiment with different values of filament_margin until you find one that slides smoothly (I needed 1.3 in my case), and secure it in the bushing bore with some 24-ga. solid wire through the holes provided for this purpose. If Igus produced a bushing in the LM8LUU size, you could use that if desired instead. It might also be possible to press an actual LM8LUU bearing into the bore, but this is untested (and somewhat unnecessary). The original Hypercube 300 XY joiner is included as my design begins with it and modifies it as needed.
