Hypercube 300 Spiral Bushing XY Joiner
prusaprinters
One of the design goals for the Hypercube 300 is to keep the mass of the CoreXY mechanism down so it can run faster; this is why it uses things like carbon-fiber rods on the carriage axis. The XY joiners of the original design call for LM8LUU linear bearings, though, which adds significant weight on one axis. This XY joiner remix fully encloses the bearing so you can substitute the spiral-vase printed linear bushing from here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2537701 Increase length to 44.8 mm to make an LM8LUU-sized bushing, iterate through different values of filament_margin until you find one that slides freely (I needed 1.3 here), and secure it in the bushing bore with some 24-ga. solid wire through the holes provided for the purpose. If Igus made a bushing in the LM8LUU size, you could use that if you wanted instead. It might also be possible to press an actual LM8LUU bearing into the bore, but this is untested (and somewhat pointless). The original Hypercube 300 XY joiner is included, as my design starts with that and modifies it as needed. Print Settings Printer Brand: Anet Printer: A8 Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 40% Filament: AmazonBasics PETG red Notes: The bushing is intended to be printed in spiral-vase mode: one outer layer, no top or bottom. Render time for the joiner SCAD file is non-trivial: about six minutes on a Core i5-4690K, closer to a half-hour on a Core 2 Quad Q6600. Category: 3D Printer Parts
