Hyperboloid Fruit Bowl

Hyperboloid Fruit Bowl

This was a concept I had for a gift for my mom. I wanted to create a curved fruit bowl from only straight lines. This was incredibly challenging to print, taking me about 15 hours of failed attempts before I finally got one that worked. I scaled it up to fill the entire build plate of an Ender 3 Pro. It required supports near the bottom until the lines could connect in the central section. A brim was also necessary. Glue on the build plate made all the difference. I tried doing only some of these things and it wouldn't work, but when I did them all together, the print turned out perfect. After getting it printed, I noticed that putting actual fruit in the bowl caused the arms to bend slightly. This made me nervous, so I designed a ring that slips onto the top and provides additional support. If you're printing this on a smaller scale, it should be strong enough to hold small items without the ring.
