These are some parts I designed for my downspout hydroponics system. The most important is the water cap. It's designed to fit in a 2” watering hole at the end of the downspout, with a tab to make it easier to insert and remove. The hole in the tab gives the option of tying it to the shelf so it's handy when you need it. I created a slightly smaller and simpler version of this piece which can be placed in the 1.5” holes in case you don’t have enough plants to fill a full downspout. Both these caps keep light and debris from entering the nutrient solution. They fit loosely so they can be easily inserted and removed. I've also included the handle/clip for my mirror system, which bounces light back into the growing area. The handle is designed so that one side can clip onto the 1” diameter legs of the shelf, and the other can clip onto a ½” dowel. Cut a strip of mylar blanket the height of your shelf, tape each side to a dowel of the same height, wrap it around a few times, and clip it to the handle. This allows the mirrors to be easily removed by one person when it is time to harvest. I also added a thin layer of hot glue to the insides of the 1” clips so that they could grip better onto the smooth metal shelf legs.
