This hydrofoil, suitable for a standard 3D printer, has a high lift, low Reynolds S1223 airfoil section. At 5 degrees angle of attack and 2m/s speed, it can lift over 80kg; at 12 degrees, it lifts up to 130kg. A circular tube mount adds drag but provides a simple strut solution using 1-inch PVC pipe, which needs reinforcement with composite. The design fits a specific PVC pipe (<http://www.homedepot.com/p/Formufit-1-in-x-5-ft-Furniture-Grade-Sch-40-PVC-Pipe-in-Black-P001FGP-BK-5/205171550>). The watertight STL mesh underwent fluid dynamic analysis in LS-DYNA, showcasing attached flow to the airfoils without vortex interference. A circular mount resulted in increased drag and minor rear stabilizer interference. Structural analysis assumed a single composite layer (fiberglass), modeled as isotropic material, with loads from fluid dynamics. The effective stress was below yield stresses, highlighting potential reinforcement areas in red. Displacement images show a scale of 100.
