Hydrofoil Boat RC (experimental)

Hydrofoil Boat RC (experimental)

The initial attempt of using a hydrofoil on my motorboat was challenging due to the difficulty in finding the right balance between wing pitch, speed, and center of gravity. The first test revealed that the propeller lost traction when the boat gained speed, causing fluctuations in velocity. Subsequent adjustments improved performance, but without the front wing, the bow created significant waves. The optimal design for a hydrofoil-equipped motorboat with a displacement hull requires careful consideration of wing mounts, layer heights, width, infill, and solid layers. Metal strips are recommended between screws and hull to protect it from penetration. Parts can be sourced from the enlarged motorboat or regular motorboat designs available on Thingiverse. The boat performs best at its hull speed; going beyond may require more power and result in unfavorable driving behavior. Flat water is ideal for operation, especially when driving at high speeds.
