I still couldn't harness the full potential of my motor on the enlarged motorboat. My intention now was to lift the bow upwards to avoid the massive bow wave and also lift the stern so it doesn't dip so deep. So maybe a hydrofoil would achieve this. I chose the profile NACA 63-412, which is commonly used for sailboats like the Moth. At the front, I took the bridge from the two-hulled boat, and at the back, I designed a new mount. The test has shown that it's very challenging to find the right balance between the pitch of each wing, the ideal speed, and the optimal center of gravity. On the first try, you can see how it behaves (00:36 - 00:40). As soon as it became fast and lifted, the propeller didn't get enough water anymore. Then, it suddenly slowed down until the propeller reached the water again. It does this several times. Then, with some changes, it runs better. At the end, I tried without the front wing. The stern still kept up, but the bow threw a big wave and went steeply upwards again. http://youtu.be/Rr9ZUvFP3P4 And better choose flat water without waves and where you can go in - very specially if you drive it as wildly as I tried. Conclusion: All boats I've designed have a displacement hull, which runs best at its hull speed. The longer the boat is, the more speed it will make. If you try to go over the hull speed, you'll need relatively much more power. Additionally, its driving behavior will then be unfavorable. The bow lifts up and throws high spray water - partly also into the boat. So take it as a suggestion and make something really good!
