Hydroclone for Pond

I'm testing out a hydroclone, the concept's similar to bag-less vacuums, where water is forced into a cyclone, then through a sharp bend - heavier objects sink while lighter ones exit through the top. I tried three designs (all attached), and they do work, but it doesn't perform well with algae separation, which was my goal. However, it excels at removing solids from water. The design features a 15mm plastic tube attached to the inlet on the side, a coke bottle taped to the bottom, and water exits from the top. My final and best design so far has a cross on the bottom.
