Hydro Rotary Garden
thingiverse
Working on a printable VolksGarden at this moment. Using PVC pipes and RedCups to minimize printed parts is the strategy employed. The outside diameter measures 860mm, while the width is 500mm, allowing five RedCups with holes punched in the bottom to fit snugly inside. Eighteen segments are spaced every 20 degrees, making it possible to have a total of ninety plants. A thorough review of the math behind this project is required for further information. The design process has reached the stage where the wheel has been designed and structure rigidity needs to be verified. It's uncertain at this point how much weight this will need to carry - estimates ranging from 500 grams per cup have been proposed, but no concrete answer is available yet. Printing has not commenced yet. To prevent plants from sliding out of their cups, using one or two pins through the cup could provide a solution. Rockwool or a mix of Coco coir and Clay are being considered as options for the growing medium. Assemblies for the stand, reservoir, and motor still need to be completed. Any suggestions or ideas on this project would be greatly appreciated.
