Cut pool noodles into 20mm-24mm sections, then make a slit in each section to fit the plant stem securely inside. For smaller plants, cut out a section of the noodle to better support their smaller stem size. Cut a 49mm-50mm hole in the container lid to allow for proper drainage and air circulation. Next, place a tote or shoe box container filled with water and fertilizer into the setup. Add a plant to the center of the container, surrounding it with the pool noodle sections. To use this method with the Kratky system, leave a small gap between the lid and the water line, creating space for the roots to absorb oxygen.
