Human-operated hydraulic pumps are used in hydraulic drive systems, which can be either hydrostatic or hydrodynamic. A hydraulic pump is a mechanical power source that converts mechanical energy into hydraulic energy (hydrostatic energy, specifically flow and pressure). It produces flow with enough power to overcome the pressure induced by the load at the pump outlet. When operating, a hydraulic pump creates a vacuum at its inlet, forcing liquid from the reservoir into the inlet line to the pump, then delivering this liquid mechanically to the pump outlet and forcing it into the hydraulic system.
