Hydraulic pumps are vital components in hydraulic drive systems and can operate in either hydrostatic or hydrodynamic modes. These devices transform mechanical energy into hydraulic (or hydrostatic) energy, which is essentially a flow of liquid with sufficient power to overcome load-induced pressure at the pump outlet. The operation of a hydraulic pump generates a vacuum at its intake, drawing fluid from the reservoir through the inlet line and forcing it into the system via mechanical action. Hydrostatic pumps are positive displacement types, whereas hydrodynamic pumps can be either fixed-displacement, with a constant flow per rotation, or variable-displacement, featuring a more intricate design for adjustable flow rates.
