A cutter suction dredger (CSD) features a rotating cutter head that breaks down and fragments difficult soils. The resulting soil mixture is then pumped by dredge pumps and conveyed through a floating pipeline to an onshore discharge point, where it is deposited in a designated area. Unlike other dredgers, CSDs remain stationary during the dredging process.
