Hydra/Manta system titan DD mount
thingiverse
**Notice: this is a work in progress. ** I installed the Titan fore/aft "step back" mount on the Manta system on my Ender 3 using a 20mm deep pancake stepper. There were no clearance issues. A 4mm tube can pass easily between stepper back & frame, so the 23mm pancake stepper should work fine also. This is a modification of the Hydra system bowden header to become a Hydra direct drive (DD) mount for a Titan style extruder on an Ender 3. I believe it should also work with BoothyBoothy's Manta system & have assembled a mockup for testing. This configuration allows the extruder/stepper assembly to be easily removed as a complete unit to provide access to the hot end and short bowden tube. A short, pancake style stepper should be used to have clearance with the Ender frame. The assembled orientation of "v1" components is front/back with the extruder to the front (over the hot end) and the stepper to the rear. The "STEP BACK" version is the preferred front/back mount. It has a more direct line from extruder output to hotend input. The assembled orientation of "LEFT SIDE" components places the stepper on the left side of the mount assembly. I used the BoothBoothy's "Bowden_Head.stl" & "Direct_Drive_Head_Sherpa_Mini_V1_1.stl" and napfkuchen's "E3DTitan_Direct_Extrusion.stl" as source materials. **NOTE: ** The "v1" files result in the Titan output & hot end input being offset, front to back, by about 7mm (the titan output opening being more forward) on my trial setup. The "STEP BACK" version has much less front/back offset. Testing on my Ender 3 indicate it will work without interference when using 20mm or 23mm pancake steppers. ** The "STEP BACK" version is preferred over the "v1" files ** 8/28/2021 - added "Manta mk2" parts for the Titan front/back mount, using the base from "Direct_Drive_Head_Sherpa_Mini_V1_1.stl" for use with the Manta MK2 system. Physically tested & short bowden alignment looks good. 8/31/2021 - uploaded a 2mm spacer for the rear 3 holes at the back of the mount. There was a gap between mount & rear plate that would cause the mount to cant towards the rear. 9/1/2021 - Uploaded updated MK2 stepper plate & mount for better fitup.
