Hail, Hydra! Immortal Hydra! We shall never be vanquished! Sever a limb, and two more shall sprout in its place! We serve none but our Master—as the world soon will bow to us! Hail Hydra! Emerging into the spotlight during World War II as part of the Nazi war machine, Hydra has long been a constant threat to global security and stability. The group has been involved in numerous plots and schemes over the years, but none as audacious as their covert takeover of SHIELD. -=Design=- I was particularly drawn to MAKOTOKAMUI's Shield Badge (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1462288) but couldn't find a Hydra badge that matched its style, so I designed this in Blender in the same vein. I also included a small tab on the back for easier attachment of a fastener. -=Finishing=- I printed mine in ABS and then used hot acetone to smooth out imperfections after a thorough sanding. Next, I primed the pin black. For the red pin, I carefully painted the top layer red before sealing it in place. For the silver version, I applied a heavy dry brush of silver acrylic paint and sealed it afterwards. Finally, I attached a rectangular pin backing from a craft shop to the back.
