The Long Island Sound Crossing initiative aims to tackle the increasing transportation issues related to traveling to and from Long Island, NY. By 2050, Long Island is expected to be fully developed, leading to severe traffic congestion and lengthy travel times. Therefore, there is a pressing need for alternative transportation methods. I propose a hybrid system that leverages the distinctive geography of Long Island, enabling efficient north-south land travel while also providing additional routes off the island towards New England.
