Hybrid Oprical Filament Runout for Ender 3
thingiverse
This kit is designed to function as a hybrid optical sensor, where the filament color has no impact on the optical sensor's ability to detect when it runs out. You may need to invert Marlin settings for the optical trigger properly, as it will be open under normal conditions. File: Configuration.h #define FIL_RUNOUT_INVERTING true // Set to true to invert the logic of the sensor. I modified the design of the Optical Filament Runout Sensor from Dancem to accommodate use on my Ender 3 with the filament spool positioned on the left side. It should also work with the filament spool located at the top. I am using a dual-gear extruder, where the filament entry is higher than standard, but I believe it would function with any extruder having a similar design, as I moved the sensor away from the extruder. Sidenote: One picture shows the "arm" from Jason MRC's comment on the original model, but any model should work fine.
