Hybrid Finger
thingiverse
I'm currently working on a hybrid finger for Hollies Hand, which combines a flexible finger connected with strong pin joints enclosed in an elastic 'skin'. This innovative design enables the skin to act as the returning force on the finger, allowing a single tendon to effectively move it. Because the 'bones' are linked by robust pin joints, they offer enhanced durability compared to a fully flexible material. My ultimate goal is to create a final design that accurately replicates the appearance of the original finger while providing an effective gripping surface. The structural components of the prosthetic hand will be crafted from SLS Nylon, while the 'skin' will utilize i.materialise rubber-like material. Alternatively, I may choose to employ silicone for this purpose in the future.
