Hybrid Dual Color Single Hot End Extruder

Revision1 - Sep. 25, 2017: Update Idle (it was wrong); Upload funky big gear; loaded new 3D views. This is a remix from Nophead's mendel90 Wade's Extruder. (Made for E3D v6) with Prusa i3 MK2 Multi Material Y-Piece Simple idea to convert your printer into a duo material. This Hybrid model combines a Directdrive for the everyday print (maybe flexibles) and a Bowden extruder for the second material. Both gears are exactly the same as original Nophead's design Use 4mm O.D. tubing to create the filament path inside the block, where the melting filament is "parking" while the other material prints. OR BETTER, if you use 1/8" O.D. aluminum round tube (3/32" I.D.), Prusa MM uses this method. Idle uses wood type screws (trying to keep weight to a minimum) Uses 3 small bearings, 688 (8mm I.D. x 16mm O.D. x 5mm width) Need 1 hobbed bolt. Same spec than Mendel 90 by Nophead's design Bowden fittings are M6. (through fitting recommended) The file has built-in support. (I tried to keep up with Nophead's highest standards) Marlin must support multi-extruder with a single hot end feature. Prometheus extruder web site has a good guide for upgrading Marlin. Tip: tubing that goes inside E3D hot end should have an "spot" with I.D. around 1.8mm, removing the chance of a bigger head filament when retracting. (I put a "dent" in mine with the help of a drill to spin the tube while round finger pliers put a dent on it) Still a work in progress, I will put it together when my new step motors show up; I will upload some pictures then. The pictures of printings you see are from my previous extruder project that I have not published, but uses the same system.
