HVAC capacitor clamp
thingiverse
I recently had a failed capacitor in my air conditioning condensing unit and discovered that the replacements I purchased, although correctly rated, were larger in diameter (2 3/8") than the original unit's 2". This led to an issue with the existing strap clamp not fitting properly. The parts listing on the site didn't provide information about the diameter of the replacement capacitors. However, I was able to learn from my mistake and create a new clamp that accommodates the larger units. To use this clamp, simply attach it to your condenser's frame using the hole in the flat backing. Then, secure the new capacitor with a 5 or 6mm machine screw. The design also includes a hex indent, allowing you to easily swap out capacitors by applying a captured nut - I personally chose to glue mine in place for added security. Additionally, I've included a shim that can be used to adapt the clamp for 2" diameter capacitors, making it a versatile solution for various unit sizes.
