Huygens' Ruler
thingiverse
This is a DIY ruler for creating wave diagrams of light and its diffraction patterns. It's based on Huygens' principle, which states that waves propagate by every point in space emitting spherical waves: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huygens_principle. Simply use a nail or thumbtack to secure one end of the ruler, then draw out the radiating patterns. Markings are included to change the wave's phase, allowing you to see effects like beamforming in action.
