Husqvarna open-toe foot
thingiverse
This is a customized foot for Husqvarna sewing machines, specifically designed for use with the Designer series. The foot can also likely work with other models from the same manufacturer. I produced it by printing it sideways using support structures and a raft to ensure that the mounting pin would emerge smoothly. However, during my test prints on November 14, 2015, I noticed that there was an extremely tight clearance between the mounting pin and the foot's top edge. As a result, prints would often fail due to this issue. After carefully examining the design, I made a slight adjustment to increase the clearance by approximately one millimeter. This modification significantly improved the reliability of the prints while still providing optimal performance on the machine. In addition to updating the original file, I created an alternate version that includes helper disks from Makerbot Desktop. Printing with these disks helps to ensure a flat, reliable print without needing a raft, making post-processing easier and just as effective. Post-printing requirements include the potential for more extensive cleanup of support material if you opt to print the foot sideways. Also, be aware that slight sanding may be required to smooth out the toe edges, preventing them from snagging on materials during sewing operations.
