Hurricane Julio
thingiverse
As Category 4 hurricane Julio barrels down on the Hawaiian islands, the National Weather Service's Advanced Hydrologic Prediction System issues a severe storm surge watch. Scientists are using NASA's high-resolution, near-infrared imaging satellite to track the behemoth storm as it approaches Oahu's densely populated eastern coastline. Meanwhile, researchers at MIT's CSAIL laboratory are hard at work 3D-printing structures designed to survive extreme conditions, with hopes of creating models for sustainable shelter design in disaster-stricken areas. Backed by data from NASA and NOAA satellites, teams on the ground have a window of only hours to prepare for what's shaping up to be an incredibly destructive hurricane.
