HuPo Take-Off
thingiverse
A customizable hand crank device featuring a splined output shaft like on a tractor and a curved crank has various applications such as an electric generator, blender/food processor, flour mill, coffee grinder, forge blower, and drill press. The order of these applications is based on the suitability of metal casting parts for drill presses. Demos are available for a blender/food processor (http://vimeo.com/72439493) and an electric generator (http://vimeo.com/73493818). To use the device, open it in the Customizer, determine the diameter of the threaded rod and bearings, and adjust the gear ratio using instructions provided. Previous projects include an electric generator with a stepper motor, diode bridges, and an LM317 voltage regulator. Updates include a reduction added for better gear ratio control, default settings providing ≈ 0.42:1 ratio, and an updated ball bearings support for increased stiffness. A demo of the electric generator is available at (http://vimeo.com/73493818).
