HUNTING ISLAND LIGHTHOUSE - N (1/160) SCALE MODEL LANDMARK

Located in the northern shore of Hunting Island in South Carolina, the first original brick lighthouse erected in 1859 was destroyed by Confederate forces at the start of the Civil War before the battle of Port Royale. A new lighthouse, constructed between 1873 and 1875 was designed to be moved in case of barrier island erosion. It is made of brick with segmented, bolted together, cast iron shell painted the lower two-thirds white and the top third black. The conical tower is 136 feet (41 m) tall and was equipped with a second-order Fresnel lens with a range of 18 miles. The lighthouse was active until 1933. Today, the lighthouse is part of the Hunting Island State Park and it's open to visitors. The model was designed using pictures and detailed drawing of the actual building in scale 1/160 (N scale). You can resize it using your favourite software before print, however, if you do so, some of the parts may lose stability or look over scaled. Model has 12 different pieces that you need to assembly as any other model kit: I attached an instruction booklet together with the downloaded files. Printing, painting and weathering will give a lot of fun. This model can be a great addition to your layout or diorama. Happy modelling!
