In ancient Roman mythology, the goddess Diana ruled over the wilderness, the natural world, and the night sky. She's frequently depicted surrounded by wild beasts and dense forests, with a special gift for communicating with animals. Here she is shown chasing after prey during a hunt, armed with a quiver full of arrows and accompanied by a loyal dog at her side. This ornate pedestal was crafted in 1754 by the skilled artist Pascal Latour.
