Hummingbirds Rotating Sculpture

Hummingbirds Rotating Sculpture

I created this anniversary gift, featuring two hummingbirds that glide effortlessly around a circular base. As they move, they always return to each other, as if sharing a tender moment. At the center of their dance lies a beautiful flower, a symbol of their love and connection. The base is designed to be printed in one piece, with rotating sliders securely attached. To achieve this, I utilized full supports throughout the print job. The color palette was intentionally diverse, requiring me to switch filaments frequently during the printing process. I chose Proto-Pasta PLA filament infused with metallic flakes for its unique aesthetic appeal. Around 40-50% into the print, I swapped out the first color for a new one, resulting in each bird displaying two distinct hues. However, if you change the filament at this specific point, the birds will showcase an intriguing blend of colors. To fine-tune the design, I used a file to carefully remove any small imperfections that arose during printing. Be cautious when handling the slider pieces, as they can snap easily under excessive pressure. If you're interested in exploring and modifying this project further, I've shared the original Fusion 360 file on A360: https://a360.co/2QPmWkF
