Hummingbird Robotics Chassis

I utilize the Hummingbird Robotics kits with middle school students in my Creator's Studio elective class to teach programming fundamentals and circuitry. To safeguard the board from damage, I conceived a custom chassis for the hummingbird to reside within, offering protection from bumps and drops. This protective casing features openings specifically designed to accommodate the USB and power cables, while its compact design enables all wires to easily connect to ports at a 45-degree angle. The chassis is tailored to work in harmony with the original Hummingbird device, not the Duo model. For further information on hummingbird, please visit http://www.hummingbirdkit.com/. Here are step-by-step instructions for assembly: To design my custom chassis, I leveraged the powerful capabilities of Autodesk 123D. I successfully printed the shown unit on a Makerbot Replicator 5th Gen, employing 10% infill and printing without raft supports to ensure smooth layer bonding, with each layer measuring at 0.20mm in height.
