Hummingbird helix 5 / Lowrance Elite fishfnder mount extenstion

I fabricated this mount to bring my Hummingbird fishfinder closer to my seat in my Old Town Predator Minn Kota edition, approximately six inches away. It replaces the accessory mounting panel on the MK pod, utilizing a similar setup as the utility Pod. The RAM mount is quite pricey, so I decided to explore an alternative approach. This is still a work in progress. To adjust the angle, I utilize a steel spring to spread the arm halves apart at the lower end. A 1/4 inch bolt and nut are attached to each joint to prevent it from coming loose while adjusting. The spring ensures that the joint opens and keeps the upper portion closed during adjustments. Two versions of one side have been included: one with nut recesses and another without. You can use a lock nut (with a nylon lock ring) on the version without recesses, leaving it loose enough to adjust without losing it. For the version with nut recesses, use a regular nut, as the recesses are designed for 1/4 inch hardware. If you opt for the version with recesses, be sure to print two extra knobs.
