The initial design features electronics secured via a hummingbird feeder's coupler, screwed into a watertight container with a PIT reader and batteries. An antenna-holding bracket is attached using a wire tie. This prototype was 3D printed on a MakerBot TOM using ABS material. Further improvements may involve an instrumented perch to measure bird weight. Presently, this design represents the final iteration of the Mark I feeder.
