Human-powered water purification filter
grabcad
This human-powered filtration system features a lever mechanism for minimal material usage without sacrificing integrity. The 2:1 force amplification ratio eases water pumping through the filter. Dirty water is drawn from the bottom via an attachable cable or by submerging it directly in water. A one-way valve (ball with spring) ensures only dirty water enters, while four small holes on top release air for efficient suction. The plunger's 90mm stroke accommodates roughly 0.143L of water per pump, providing two full glasses of clean water. Filtration is possible up to 1000L with a replaceable standard filter. The lever mechanism is 3D-printed for minimal environmental impact and designed within specific constraints for optimal performance. It weighs little and can be used by households in Brazil for purifying polluted water without electricity.
