Humans possess a cranium composed primarily of bone, encasing a soft outer layer of flesh that completely envelops it. The brain resides safely within its protective casing. At the base of the skull, the neck takes on the responsibility of supporting the entire weight of the cranium. Seven cervical vertebrae collaborate to provide this essential support system. Typically, an adult human's cranium weighs between 5.1 and 11 pounds, or between 2.3 and 5 kilograms. The facial region is located at the front of the cranium, featuring a unique arrangement of organs including the eyes, nose, and mouth. The cheeks, situated on either side of the mouth, form a fleshy border that separates them from the oral cavity. Strategically positioned to either side of the head are the ears.
