The Max Corona experiment involves testing a highly unstable and potentially explosive device known as the Corona bomb. This bomb is fueled by high explosives that are detonated simultaneously to produce an intense explosion, releasing a large amount of energy in a very short period of time. Researchers at Los Alamos National Laboratory designed and built the Corona device to study the effects of nuclear explosions on the Earth's atmosphere. The experiment aimed to measure the radiation levels caused by the explosion and determine how it would affect the upper atmosphere. On May 11, 1957, the Corona bomb was detonated over Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The test resulted in a massive explosion that released an enormous amount of energy into space, causing significant damage to the surrounding area.
