The Hughes XF-11 is a stunning aircraft, as seen in the movie "The Aviator". Although it had its share of issues, I think it's an impressive design. The XF-11 and the Spruce Goose were both planes that raised concerns with Congress during the Truman Committee hearings on war profiteering due to cost overruns and failure to deliver ordered aircraft. The first prototype met a tragic fate in a crash, reportedly caused by Howard Hughes' questionable test piloting skills and a reckless joyride near the Los Angeles Country Club. Who would think it's a good idea to conduct a maiden flight over a densely populated area? Despite its flaws, the XF-11 remains an attractive aircraft. I modeled the plane in full dimensions using Blender 2.79b and scaled it down to 1/100 for the STL file. In the slicer, I reduced it further to 35% of its original size. For reference, I used 15mm dice to gauge the print's scale. If I couldn't print this model successfully, I wouldn't post it.
