Huge (Curled up) Friendly Articulated Slug

<p>This is a curled up version of the fabulous Friendly Articulated Slug designed by <a href="https://www.thingiverse.com/_Isaiah_">Isaiah Steckling</a>.&nbsp;It is intended to print large and really huge slugs. For normal size slugs you can use the original model.</p><p>Please note, that due to quite thin parts and quite noticable overhangs this is not an easy print. Especially if you downscale it down to 50-60%. First layer adhesion is very important here if you print without brim setting turned on (which you should be able to do). Please test your printer on some other prints with overhangs and low first layer area, before giving up on this model.&nbsp;</p><p><br>I rotated each section of the original slug in Blender using a printed curled up version as a reference. Curled up version takes less place on a print bed, so now you can print a really huge slug. The uploaded model is about 314% compared to the original Isaiah's version (pi times bigger, pure coincidence).</p><p>&nbsp;To this moment I didn't reach maximum size on a Prusa MK3, because it would take almost 4 days. The red one on the photo took about 2 days and weighs about 500 grams, so it's already quite a lot.</p><p>As you can see from community makes, slugs can look great with matte filaments as well as with translucent glossy ones. PLA is the best choice but other filaments are ok. It's quite difficult to achieve good overhang on the slug bottom, but I personally think it is not that important. I haven't tested it yet, but printing overhangs on a large slug should be easier with a bigger nozzle.</p><p>When you scale the model, brims could become to thick or too thin, so I recommend splitting the object into parts and scaling brims separately, or using your own brims (like thin cylinders in Prusa Slicer).</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>UPD: Added version without brims around “legs” of the slug for even bigger printing without extra efforts</p>
