The fossil tracks at Santisteban del Puerto in Jaén are found in the Triassic red layers, dating back to 230-220 million years. This site, classified as a Natural Monument, spans an area of 18 square meters and contains 26 three-toed tracks. Each track features two parallel indentations on the sides and one shorter indentation in the center. It is believed that these were created by bipedal archosaurs swimming in deep waters, occasionally touching the bottom with their fingertips (semi-digit tracks). The varying widths suggest multiple individuals crossing a river or different specimens at different times.
