Hudson U-skip

Hudson U-skip

This U-Skip is based on pictures from a 1920s Hudson catalogue. The skip is designed to 1:16 scale, suitable for running on 32mm gauge track. You'll need to print four wheels and bearing parts, two ends and supports, and one chassis and body. To make the wagon functional, line the bearing holes in the bearings with short lengths of brass tube; I used K&S tube with an internal diameter of 1/8 inch and an external diameter of 5/32 inch. For the axles, use 1/8 inch steel or brass rod. The body printed well with support and cleaned up nicely with simple sanding. Covering it with Deluxe Model's Scenic Rust gives a great final texture. There are two variants of the body: one is a U-shape for underground use, while the other is a more open V-shape for surface use. The body prints best upside down with supports and a raft; the rest of the pieces don't need support and will print well without a raft. I hope you enjoy this!
