Hudson Tipper railway truck. (new hubs)
thingiverse
A G-scale Hudson Tipper truck representation is available for railway use. The April 2014 revised photo features three trucks with an LGB Stainz on 45mm track, one in red, another in white, and a third in black. Inspired by http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:160987, the design has since seen revisions, such as the lowered hub that improves standard LGB train coupling while using Mk 2 wheels suitable for 45mm gauge track. The revised hook "F" allows tippers to couple, and a simple chain may be used instead for aesthetic purposes, although it can be difficult to obtain. A 3mm rod from a straightened wire coat hanger serves as the axle. With the new hub's height, the body aligns correctly with LGB hook connectors. Original versions of the tub, stl file, and master 123dx files are still available. Stefan's Hubs, found at http://www.thingiverse.com/make:125279, were added in May 2015, thanks to Stefan. The body is printed upright with minor stringing under the horizontal part. Wheels print well in sets of four without a raft or brim. The new "Hub" stl is tilted for printing on a raft. The dumper body is printed upside down using a raft option. The toy-like hook allows tippers to connect with each other or LGB trains, but untested with decoupling rails. Decoupler installation requires filing for optimal function. Axles measure 3mm in diameter and are made from galvanized steel wire coat hangers. Wheels should touch hubs, requiring gluing or a spacer to maintain proper distance on 45mm (LGB) track.
