Hudson River Sloop Victorine
sketchfab
The Victorine, a Hudson River sloop constructed from Portia Takakjian's plans in the book "Sloops of the Hudson River" by Paul E Fonteno, was one of the fastest sloops on the river in the 1840s. This swift vessel carried Parrott guns from the Cold Spring Foundry to New York during the Civil War. To learn more about the Victorine's history, visit https://issuu.com/seahistory/docs/sh_043_spring-1987/26, and for information on the Parrott gun, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parrott_rifle. Special thanks are extended to Zoan Oy for their use of rope, sail, and rigging features from their free model of the Aleksandr class archipelago frigate in the National Museum of Finland's project "Historia eläväksi digitaalisella tarinankerronnalla".
