Hubsan 4x Camera Case

Hubsan 4x Camera Case

thingiverse

I had decided to repurpose my old Hubsan X4 Quad Copter camera, which was only 0.3MP, into something more exciting. It would make a great accessory for an RC boat or other vehicle, or even a secret spy camera. Features: The camera pivots over 90 degrees. An extruded ring around the camera lens allows future attachments. The start/stop button is easily operated. Ribbon cable does not need to be detached from the board. The SD card does not stick out of the case when installed, so it won't break if impact occurs. The Micro SD card is easily installed and removed. Solid construction The camera and board components fit snugly together. The printed parts fit snugly together and don't necessarily need glue (depending on use). The case is well-ventilated. Both the case and the camera have independent mounting tabs. All the mounting tabs line up parallel to a flat mounting surface. All parts are manifold and correct. I took about an hour and 20 minutes to print it on my MakerBot Mini at 0.15 resolution, which results in very little post-processing needed for the finished photos. Print Settings Printer Brand: MakerBot Printer: MakerBot Replicator Mini Rafts: Yes Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.15 Infill: 0.5 Post-Printing The only post-processing I did for the photos was removing the raft and support structures. Before mounting the board and camera elements, test-fit the parts, particularly the camera pivot pins in the pivot holes. Assembly: 1.Insert the camera element (Lens side) into the part. 2.Snap the opposite part (Has the pivot pins) over the rear of the camera. 3.Insert a pivot pin into the frame, put the ribbon cable into the slot and gently seat the board onto the bottom of the frame (See photo). 4.Feed the power wires through the bottom slot in the frame 5.Insert the other pivot pin into the other frame (Cover) and snap together. Enjoy How I Designed This I used Newtek's Lightwave 3D to design this thing, and I measured the parts with a caliper. I exported it in STL format and printed a test one to verify everything was correct. I created the THING file, photos, etc. to upload.
