I created spool hubs to fit on a 12mm rod/axle, with dimensions of 52.5mm for the MakerBot hub and 38mm for the other. These are pre-scaled for ABS printing. I printed at 15% infill, 2 shells, with layer heights of 0.20 or 0.30 mm. The fit is very snug; however, if you prefer PLA, scaling them down may be necessary. Recently, I produced a version 2 (hub_makerbot_scaled_v2.STL and hub_china_scaled_v2.STL) with conical shapes (2.86-degree angle). This design includes eight additional ribs for enhanced contact surface, resulting in a hub that fits perfectly.
