HTC Vive Facial Interface Surface

HTC Vive Facial Interface Surface

prusaprinters

A model of the surface of the HTC Vive facial interface (the surface that the face cushion attaches to). Not a full object on its own, just a surface that can be used as a base for objects that need to fit there. It's not exactly the shape of the Vive surface, but inset from the edges a bit, closer to the shape of the velcro strip.

Includes a sample object that is the surface with thickness added.

Forgive the print quality - I thought I'd try printing the final test flat to see how it turned out. A different color would have been easier to see, too.

How I Designed This

Poorly

Originally tried photogrammetry to create a mesh (poorly), then tried to fit a surface to it (poorly). Then took front, side, top profile photos, traced outline curves over them in Fusion 360, and then a lot of learning, spline drawing, lofting, undoing, doing again, starting over, printing, tweaking the curves & making it worse, printing, tweaking again.

What I should have done, is just gotten a contour gauge and turned the curves into a stacked layer of splines.

But I learned a heckuva lot more about Fusion 360.
