HTC VIVE Camera Holder

-- Update -- This model is no longer being updated because it has been replaced by an even better solution created by my colleague and friend Damien. See http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2159029 This device allows me to attach a webcam, specifically a disassembled Logitech C930e, directly onto a HTC Vive virtual reality headset. The webcam is plugged into the inner USB port of the Htc vive and enables its use in an augmented reality application. It's still a first draft but it works well. The mounting system, as well as the cover, are designed to avoid interfering with the infrared sensor on the helmet. Feel free to use this device for your own projects and improve upon it. Edit: I've posted a second version that uses two 2mm screws to secure the cross socket in place with new curved clamps that fit better around the vive's headset. You may need to apply a little force when attaching it to the HTC Vive, but once attached, it will be more reliable than the previous version. Print Settings Printer Brand: Deltaprintr Printer: Deltaprintr Assembled Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 30% Notes: I use a thickness of 0.3 mm for the first layer and 0.2 mm for all other layers. The "cross" part is printed with 100% infill to make it stronger. Post-Printing I secure the cover to the cross socket using two screws, each measuring 2mm in diameter and 5 mm long with a 4 mm head. The camera motherboard is fixed onto the socket using the same type of screws, along with a smaller screw that measures 1mm in diameter and 3 mm long with a 2 mm head. To ensure a proper fit between the "cross socket" and the cover, I had to sand down a small area on the socket.
